Microsoft Dynamics GP is Phasing Out: Here’s What Mekorma is Doing to Help You with the Transition
Now that the dust has settled a bit, I wanted to take this time to address Mekorma’s plans around the Microsoft Dynamics GP end-of-life announcement, introduced by Microsoft this past October.
In a nutshell, Microsoft announced significant changes to its Dynamics GP product support. The company announced an end to new perpetual license sales in April 2025, with new subscription license sales ending in April 2026. Mainstream support for Dynamics GP will conclude in 2029, with extended support wrapping up by 2031.
What The End of Dynamics GP Means for Our Customers
Over the last 30 years, Mekorma has built up a significant customer base through relentless customer support, hard work, and commitment to our channel partners. It feels like over these years we’ve seen and fought many battles together and navigated a myriad of changes. At this juncture, the future may seem uncertain, but we remain optimistic about the path ahead.
While Microsoft’s announcement may seem like a setback, it provides a clear timeline for the GP community and our customers. This transition period is an excellent opportunity for many to move to Dynamics 365 Business Central, which offers enhanced features and capabilities in the cloud.
Our Commitment to Support
Here at Mekorma, we are dedicated to supporting our GP customers with product enhancements, fixes, and world-class support even after 2029. To make this change easier for everyone, we have worked on bringing more clarity to our offerings, aligning our pricing practices with those of the overall industry, and streamlining our software engineering capabilities.
We will continue to support customers who choose to stay with Dynamics GP, while anticipating that most will use this time to plan their transition to Business Central (BC).
Our Strategy
The Mekorma team is actively working on our pivot to deliver our award-winning Payment Hub solution on Business Central. If anything, we see this transitional period as an opportunity to connect more deeply with our existing GP customer and partner base. We’re excited to show how we will continue to provide excellent software and solutions as you make the leap to Business Central. Knowing that you have a trusted ISV with world-class products, service, and support should ease any concerns during your implementation planning phase.
We are also investing heavily in customer and partner-centric self-service capabilities within our Business Central products, eliminating any barriers to the implementation and usage of our solutions.
Here are the Top 3 Reasons to Transition from Dynamics GP to Business Central:
Transitioning from GP to Business Central offers many advantages.
Seamless Integration: Business Central is a cloud-based solution that provides seamless integration with Microsoft tools like Power Platform and M365, enhancing efficiency and offering significant opportunities for process improvement, when needed. This ends the need for traditional access methods such as VPNs and RDPs, allowing employees to work from any location from their preferred Internet browser.
Automated Updates: The growing ecosystem of ISVs in Business Central ensures that many familiar GP ISVs offer similar solutions for the platform. Microsoft offers automated updates to the latest version of BC, ensuring that your system is always up to date with the latest features and compliant with the latest regulations.
Improved Approval Workflows: From an Accounts Payable perspective, BC offers improved approval workflows and vendor relationship management, allowing AP teams to benefit from greater efficiency, which allows them to focus on more strategic tasks.
By adding Mekorma’s solutions to an already powerful ERP platform, you can streamline many repetitive tasks, take advantage of our robust payment platform, and continue to enjoy our growing list of enhancements to the check printing process in BC.
